Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Coming to Secaucus

SECAUCUS - The town will install four charging stations to be used by owners of electric vehicles. The stations will be at the library, the recreation center, the Town Hall and the municipal parking lot.

Secaucus received $20,000 for the four electric vehicle charging stations, said Amanda J. Nesheiwat, the town's environmental director. The money comes from It Pays to Plug In, the Department of Environmental Protection's Workplace Charging Grant Program, she explained.

The total cost for all four stations will be $22,000.

"The extra $2,000 we have to pay will be coming from the municipal budget," Nesheiwat said.

In Jersey City, the only other city in Hudson County to have charging stations, there are nine stations in parking lots and on streets built using mostly private funds. The stations are at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, Newport Center Mall, Central Parking-Newport Town Square Garage, Parkfast garage on Montgomery Street, a parking lot on Summit Avenue and another on First Street, Hudson Nissan, at Propark-Tesla and at a private loft development. …
