Blount, Freeman to Lead Charge in Battle of Vaunted Run Games

In a Super Bowl that features Matt Ryan and Tom Brady, two of the best quarterbacks on the face of the earth, the running game is bound to be a bit forgotten. It shouldn't be, because the Falcons and Patriots lean heavily on their run game -- and the team that runs the ball better will have a huge edge on Super Sunday.

The Falcons have Devonta Freeman, who burst onto the scene in 2015 as their featured back. Before Freeman arrived, the Falcons hadn't had a 1,000-yard rusher since Michael Turner in 2011. Now, Freeman, 24, has done it in consecutive seasons -- both Pro Bowl years.

Freeman, who ran for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns at 4.8 yards for carry, mixes speed with agility and power. The Patriots' LeGarrette Blount is more of a power back, but just as effective. …
