Party Lines to Shift as Englewood Cliffs Swears in New Council

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS -- The Borough Council will shift from a 4-2 Republican majority to a 3-3 split as it swears in new members Democrat Ellen Park and Republican William Woo on Sunday.

The November election saw Woo and Park win the two open spots over Republican Councilman Nunzio Consalvo and Democrat Michael Kochnover. Republican Councilman Zhi Liang did not run for reelection.

"I am an optimist at heart, and I hope moving forward both parties can set aside the past and their differences and work together in bringing progress for the town," Park said Friday. "That being said, there must be transparency among the council. All council members must receive the same and adequate notice on any issues. The residents of Englewood Cliffs are also entitled to know what is happening before it happens. …
