Wentzville Babysitter Charged with Child Endangerment in Death of Infant

WENTZVILLE * A babysitter was charged this week with endangering the welfare of a child in the death of an infant boy from a traumatic brain injury caused when she allegedly fell on him.

Court documents accuse Kelly Schneeberger, 41, of criminal negligence in the incident Oct. 13 at her home in the 1400 block of East Pitman Avenue.

Records also say Schneeberger initially had falsely told investigators that the boy's older brother fell on him.

The charge, filed Monday, is a misdemeanor. Schneeberger was released after posting bail.

Schneeberger, who officials say weighs 200 pounds, admitted she fell on the boy after medical examiners determined it was highly improbable that the older child could have created enough force to cause the severity of the injuries.
