FROZEN LAKES

St. Louisans awoke on Feb. 6, 1901, to a temperature of 12 degrees and began calling the Post-Dispatch newsroom to inquire about ice skating in Forest Park. The answer was yes the ice on Post-Dispatch Lake was 3 inches thick and "as smooth and clear as plate glass."
