I am very interested and intrigued by the logic and reasoning expressed by some of the electorate that voted for Donald Trump. The Jan. 30 letter from Abbey Vijlee, "I Voted for Trump, But Immigrant Ban Is Wrong," is interesting. The writer, a Muslim, is a first-generation immigrant from India.

The writer seemed surprised that Mr. Trump signed on Jan. 27 an executive order that contained a temporary entry ban that would affect citizens of seven countries - Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia.

Following the December 2015 shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Mr. Trump, then the Republican presidential front-runner, called to block all Muslims from entering the United States. "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," said the campaign press release. …
