Medical Device Maker Stereotaxis Taps New Leadership

Stereotaxis announced a new chairman and CEO Monday, shaking up the medical device company's leadership four months after new investors reconfigured its board.

Once a hyped local startup that became one of the first anchor tenants of the Cortex innovation district, Stereotaxis has struggled to turn a profit on its heart arrhythmia treatment systems since going public more than a decade ago. In August, it was delisted from the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Out is CEO and board chairman William C. Mills, who led the St. Louis-based company for the last four years. David Fischel, primary portfolio manager for medical device investments at California- based DAFNA Capital Management, now takes the reins as acting chairman and CEO. Fischel lives in the Los Angeles area. …
