Apartment Developer Asks Town to OK Plans

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS -- A developer will seek exceptions to several zoning rules next month to build an apartment building that's too tall and too dense for the property and does not have enough parking.

Prime Developers of Mahwah is proposing to build a 10-apartment building at the corner of Oldfield Avenue and Washington Place, where just single-family homes are allowed, according to the developer's zoning application. A hearing on the development proposal scheduled Thursday was postponed.

A representative from Prime Developers did not return emails or calls for comment, nor did the company's attorney and architect.

About 10 years ago, the borough Planning Board subdivided the half-acre property into five lots. The property is undergoing environmental cleanup and sits across from a Little League field. The Licensed Site Remediation Professional, Rakesh Ganta of RLG Environmental, who is managing the remediation, did not return a call for comment. …
