For those of us who prefer to spend a cozy Valentine's evening at home rather than at a crowded restaurant, romantic and decadent foods like oysters or lobster may very well be on our menus. If you're starting your meal with shellfish or having it as a main course then you need a special white wine for your feast. For this occasion, consider the delicious, mouthwatering sauvignon blanc wines from the appellation of Sancerre, located in the eastern section of France's Loire Valley, about 110 miles south of Paris. Sancerre's sauvignon blanc wines, considered by some to be among the best in the world, are generally dry, crisp, aromatic and high in acidity. While they can be grassy and herbaceous, they are typically less pungent than New Zealand style sauvignon blanc wines.
