ANCHOR STEAM * Early bird viewers of KMOV (Channel 4) will continue to have Cory Stark serving as the co-anchor for the station's morning news.

Station general manager Mike Muprhy said Stark, who has filled the slot since Andre Hepkins left in October, now has been officially named to the post.

Stark started at KMOV as a night-side reporter in November 2013 and then was moved up to a weekend anchor slot. Before returning home, the Marquette High graduate worked in Cincinnati and Indiana.

RUNNING FEAT * Members of the Qualls and Smith families in the north St. Louis area can be proud of Shalisa Davis' stellar run.

Davis, a retired Marine officer and St. Louis native who now lives in Virginia and is known to all as Lisa, recently finished a "triple 7" running seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

"Oprah [Winfrey] got me to do all this," Davis said when asked about what spurred her to stride.

"Some years ago, Oprah finished a Marine Marathon and I had only done a half-marathon at that point. So I set my mind that if she could do it, so could I," Davis said.

Davis was born in 1969 at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in north St. Louis to parents who had attended Soldan High. She moved with her mother to Chicago when she was a baby, but came back to St. Louis and attended Clark Elementary School for first and second grades before heading back north. Her father, Michael Smith, and numerous other relatives still live here.

Davis began her quest in Australia on Jan. 25 and finished it Antarctica on Jan. 31. On the way back to the U.S., with apparent time to kill, she ran an eighth 26.2-mile race in South America.

And the Triple 7 feat is merely one-third of the whole story: By passing that test, Davis, 47, propelled herself into the ranks of those who have completed the "hat trick."
