Parking Changes Coming to Downtown Ridgewood

RIDGEWOOD - To free up parking spaces for downtown shoppers, the Village council has made changes to employee and commuter parking.

Cottage Place, the village's largest municipal lot, will have meters priced at 50 cents per hour. There will also be 60 spaces designated for employees of the Central Business District for 25 cents per hour. Another North Walnut Street lot will set 30 spaces aside for downtown workers who can park for eight hours without having to move their cars due to repeat parking rules.

Annual employee parking permits will be available for $20 and allow employees to use the allocated parking spots at Cottage Place and North Walnut Street. The monthly hang tag already provided by the village costs $80 per month and allows for all day parking at Cottage Place.

During a discussion on parking earlier in the month, Councilman Ramon Hache said in his talks with local businesses, he found out many employees park at meters closest to their work. …
