Private-sector jobs surged by 18,600 in January in the Sunshine State.

That was a big jump from the 12,500 jobs added in December, which had been a 46 percent decline and a continuation of a slowdown in November, an analysis by a national human resources and payroll processing firm shows.

ADP's showed a 30 percent increase in January from 14,227 from a year ago.

Service-producing jobs represented 17,400 of the total, while goods-producing jobs accounted for the remaining 1,200.

The trade, transportation and utilities sector had the most growth, with 4,500 new positions, while professional and business services added 2,100 and natural resources, mining and construction added 2,000.

Manufacturing saw a decline of 800, ADP reported. …
