SMOKE ALARM ADVICE

The American Red Cross of Greater St. Louis and 14 engineering students from the Advance Leader Course at the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at Fort Leonard Wood will install free smoke alarms in some St. Louis neighborhoods on Saturday.

Volunteers will also replace batteries in existing units and help families make a fire escape plan.

The agency is urging every family to:

* Install smoke alarms.

* Create an escape plan with two routes from every room.

* Practice that plan at least twice a year.
