Sullivan Man Flees Narcotics Search, Arrested the Next Day

ST. CLAIR, Mo. * A man who fled the scene of a narcotics search was arrested Friday after a lengthy search that included a Missouri Highway Patrol airplane.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton said the suspect was arrested shortly after a resident called deputies at 7 a.m. to report a man sleeping in his parked truck. The caller said the man appeared to match social media reports of the suspect.

The hunt began at 2 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 3300 block of Lollar Branch Road, 5 miles west of St. Clair. Pelton said members of a multicounty narcotics unit served a search warrant there and arrested Christopher Grant, 34, on a probation violation.

Pelton said deputies found two firearms and drug paraphernalia at the residence.

While that arrest was underway, another man walked upon the scene possessing "illegal contraband," Pelton said. …
