Midland Park Oks Peter's Fish Market Move North

MIDLAND PARK - Peter's Fish Market is moving north.

Owners got the nod from the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Wednesday to move the 42-year-old business from its current location at 84 Godwin Ave., next to the Sears store, to an office complex one- third mile north at 190 Godwin Ave.

The board voted unanimously in favor of granting the variances required to relocate the business. The waivers sought included a use variance because part of the market's business is wholesale, which the property is not zoned for.

Board concerns centered on the disposal of fish waste and the water used to rinse out delivery trucks inside a garage at the new facility.

Owner Steve Sclafani Jr. told the board it would be "detrimental to have fish guts in the driveway," and had planned on a separate drained dumpster that would be emptied daily. …
