A Wilkinsburg man was found not guilty Tuesday of a 2014 Homewood shooting death.

Tariq Long, 26, was accused of killing Jeffrey Jackson, 38, on May 11, 2014.

Prosecutors alleged that Long killed Mr. Jackson because he believed that the victim was cooperating with police against Long's girlfriend, who was arrested on May 9, 2014.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's office had a witness in the case, but during her testimony, she recanted her previous statements to detectives and also testified that the police had threatened her and paid her.

The prosecution also offered evidence that a mixture of DNA, including Long's, was found on the gun used to kill Mr. Jackson. The chance of the DNA belonging to another African-American male, an expert testified, was 1 in 5,175. …
