Pipe Repairs at Oradell School to Cost $125,000

ORADELL -- The K-6 school district will pay $125,000 for emergency repairs to reroute water pipes following the failure of a water main at the school in November.

An underground pipe between the two main buildings of the school burst last month and left the school without heat for about three hours, Business Administrator Scott Bisig said. Emergency repairs provided a short-term solution for the district, he said, but a long- term fix is needed.

"Based on what happened, the whole line going under the whole parking lot, it's corroding away. It has to be replaced," Bisig said.

Work already has begun to install four new pipes, which will run into the school above the ground rather than underground.

"There's been a lot of construction and reconstruction" at the school, said Gregory Derian, a school board trustee. …
