TAMPA, Fla. - Alex Rodriguez's new assignment begins next week.

A-Rod will arrive at Yankees camp to serve as a guest instructor for three days, according to a report by ESPN's Marly Rivera.

This morning, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said plans for A-Rod's arrival had been hashed out but that he couldn't recall the exact dates he'd be in camp.

As for Rodriguez's role, it remains somewhat undefined.

"He's just going to do what everybody else does," Cashman said outside the Yankees' clubhouse at Steinbrenner Field. "When he comes in (bench coach) Rob Thomson and (manager) Joe Girardi will tell him where and what."

After retiring as a player last August with a year remaining on his contract, A-Rod agreed to serve as an instructor/adviser beginning this spring training while earning the remaining $21 million owed to him in 2017. …
