Sting's Pageant Concert Could Be the Show of the Season

Sting and the Pageant just don't seem to belong in the same sentence.

Is it a misprint? Plenty of people asked that question back when Friday's concert at the Pageant was announced. Wouldn't Sting be more at home at a large St. Louis venue like Scottrade Center?

Sure enough, the ex-Police frontman's "57th & 9th Tour" is stopping at smaller venues well below his usual draw. The show of the season is also playing at the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, the Tabernacle in Atlanta and the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.

No surprise, tickets were snapped up swiftly.

This is the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer as you've never seen him before. To call it up close and personal would be an understatement.

The tour, which follows 2016's successful joint trek with Peter Gabriel, supports the album "57th & 9th," named after the New York intersection Sting passed on his way to the studio.

It's his first rock album in more than a decade, after a string of passion projects including music from his Broadway musical "The Last Ship" (2013); his holiday album "If on a Winter's Night ..." (2009); his symphonic remakes of the hits, "Symphonicities" (2010); and even his lute songs collection ("Songs From the Labyrinth").

The album, released in November, debuted to favorable reviews and landed in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

"57th & 9th" brought Sting not only back to the charts but also back to the stage. On tour, he presents the ultimate cool classic- rocker show, accompanied by guitarists Dominic Miller and Rufus Miller and drummer Josh Freese. …
