Police Say Alleged Shoplifter Also Had Pistol, Drugs

Police arrested a Putnam County man in South Charleston on Sunday after he allegedly left a store with more than just stolen goods. Dusty Harris, 25, of Poca, set off an alarm as he left the Wal-Mart at 2700 Mountaineer Blvd., according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court.

A security guard already had noticed an object under Harris' jacket, according to the complaint, and a police officer then stopped Harris outside.

The officer reportedly saw a box sticking out of his jacket, which hid nearly $87 in stolen goods, according to the complaint.

Harris, who was placed in handcuffs after he tried to reach into his pockets, assured the officer he had only merchandise, according to the complaint. …
