Wine Finds: Austrian Wine Blends from Hpler

If you're searching for Austrian wines, the most widely available ones in our market are made from one grape varietal, grner veltliner, sometimes referred to as gru-ve, as in groovy, or simply GV. But Austria also produces other varietals, including those used to make red wines. Since these can be difficult to find, I was pleasantly surprised to come across both red and white Austrian blends at Global Foods Market. They're both made by Hpler, a well- known, family-owned winery located southeast of Vienna in Burgenland. The two blends, reviewed below, are considered best buys by Wine Enthusiast.
