QB Petty Says He's Good to Go Saturday vs. Pats

FLORHAM PARK - Think what you want about Bryce Petty's ability or inability to quarterback the Jets, but never question his toughness.

Petty hasn't missed a practice since he suffered a bruised chest Saturday night when Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh of the Dolphins pounded him on the first play of the fourth quarter, and has proclaimed he's ready to start Saturday against New England.

"Hey, if I can take hits from those guys, I think I'll be all right," said Petty.

Jets coach Todd Bowles has a similar faith.

"He's been given a full bill of health," Bowles said, "and if he's playing and starting, he's 100 percent in my mind."

Perhaps as possible insurance, Bowles hinted that rookie Christian Hackenberg, who's hasn't dressed for a game this season, could be activated as the No. 3 quarterback, behind Petty and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

But Hackenberg probably will never get off the bench.

"If we get down to the third quarterback," Bowles said, "we're probably getting killed already. …
