A state appellate judge on Wednesday blocked - temporarily, at least - the unsealing of records from a decade-old organized-crime investigation that has been at the center of corruption allegations that the family of a reputed mobster has made against the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Appellate Division Judge Douglas M. Fasciale granted a stay and allowed state and county officials to move forward with an appeal of a Superior Court judge's decision that ordered the records to be unsealed, according to court documents.

Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge Marilyn C. Clark, sitting in Paterson, "substantially granted" a motion by the estate of the late Frank P. Lagano to unseal records, including wiretap recordings, related to a 2004 investigation into illegal gambling known as Operation Jersey Boyz. …
