FRONTENAC > Vote expected next month on townhome project * Frontenac aldermen are expected to vote March 30 on a plan for 22 high-end townhomes on the site of the long-abandoned quarry at Conway Road and Princess Avenue, in the city's West End Park.

A zoning change to planned development from commercial is needed.

Pulte Homes, which for a while was involved in efforts to redevelop the former Ladue Early Childhood Center, is the petitioner.

About 30 nearby residents came to the board's public hearing Tuesday night, with eight speakers opposing the plan because of concerns about traffic, congestion and stromwater runoff.

The townhomes, called Villas at Frontenac, would have about 2,500 square feet each and sell for $500,000 and up, Pulte says. The total five-acre project including street changes and new trees would cost up to $15 million. …
