SARASOTA -- A strip shopping center on South Tamiami Trail has been sold for $1.91 million, but it may not be around for long.

A Clearwater company bought the seven-unit complex at 4333 S. Tamiami Trail.

Barry Seidel of American Property Group of Sarasota Inc., who handled the transaction, said he believes the new owner plans to redevelop the 0.9-acre site.

Tenants at the center include King James Big & Tall, FineCraft and BeWell Salon. A wine store has departed, and Seidel said he has been told the goal is to vacate the center by year end or to work around some tenants who may remain.

The center, built in 1955 and expanded in 1988, was bought by Epic Retail Tamiami LLC, a company managed by Andrew J. Hupp and Justin Basil. …
