Written by former Clinton White House adviser Sidney Blumenthal, the scathing profile says Trump craved adulation in Manhattan, but drew sneers - and turned bitter against the Big Apple elite. "Donald Trump's universally disparaged image in Manhattan attained skyscraper heights at the turn of the 1990s, it says, "after his flamboyantly bungled real-estate projects, tabloid hijinks, manic club-hopping, flagrant mob associations, cruel wife-dumping, outrageous defense of his housing discrimination, not to mention his purchase of screaming full-page newspaper ads demanding the death penalty for black youths accused of rape, the Central Park Five, who later turned out to have been innocent.
