Car Break-Ins Are Up across Bergen County

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office is warning residents of an uptick in vehicle break-ins at local gyms and county parks by an organized crime gang.

The prosecutor's office said at least 11 break-ins have occurred across Bergen County in the past several months and the crime pattern appears to match the "Felony Lane Gang."

Authorities said the burglary and theft crew typically targets cars near fitness centers, parks, day cares, YMCAs and other similar establishments. They break into unattended vehicles, steal identification cards, credit cards and checkbooks, the prosecutor's office said.

The group then "immediately" attempts to use the stolen information to withdraw money from victims' bank accounts, the office said.

Incidents have occurred at: Finch Park in Ramsey; Lakeside Fitness in Oakland; New York Sports Club in Mahwah; Superdome Sports in Waldwick; The Gym in Montvale; Park Ridge Tennis Academy in Park Ridge; Dance Studio in Norwood; the Duck Pond in Ridgewood; Saddle Brook County Park; Club Metro Fitness in Rutherford and Riverside County Park in Lyndhurst, the prosecutor's office said. …
