Unusually Warm Weather Expected to Continue in March

Despite a cold front that brought thundering rains and tornado warnings Wednesday, meteorologists say February's unusually warm weather should continue.

"Right now, they're continuing to forecast above normal temperatures into March," said Chris Leonardi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Moon.

Temperatures at Pittsburgh International Airport averaged 40.6 degrees in February, making it the fourth-warmest on record, Mr. Leonardi said.

"All of the warmer ones were in the 1800s," he said.

And even though the same cold front will result in lower temperatures Friday and Saturday, it will warm up again by Sunday.
