NORTH ARLINGTON -- A developer has filed an application with the building department to construct a 24unit apartment building on River Road.

The builder is seeking an exception to zoning rules for setbacks and building coverage. A public hearing will be held on March 13 at 7 p.m.

The application by Gambari Inc. calls for construction of a 24- unit residential building with ground-level parking at 268-280 River Road. Exceptions are needed for front yard and rear yard setbacks, where none are proposed but 5 feet are required. For building coverage, 84 percent is proposed, and 70 percent is allowed.

The trapezoid-shaped property is composed of two empty lots across from Charlie's Nursery between Eagle Street and Stover Avenue, and surrounded by small businesses like Backstreet Bar & Grill and two auto body shops, and one- and two-family homes. …
