Rev. Hugh D. Wayman has been elected president of the Deaconess
Hospital Board of Directors for 1986.
Wayman has served on the hospital's board since 1967 and has
served as a member of the executive committee. For the past 15
years, he has pastored the First Free Methodist Church in Oklahoma
In addition, physicians Joseph Dudley Powers, Paul A. Barrett and
Will G. Wyatt have been chosen medical staff officers for 1986 at
Powers, who has been on the Deaconess Medical Staff since 1963,
will serve as president. He held the offices of secretary in 1984
and vice president in 1985.
Barrett, a family practitioner, has been at Deaconess since 1964.
He served as secretary in 1985.
Wyatt joined the medical staff in 1974. . .
- Howard Cotner, Kay Schermerhorn and Ben Troutman have been
added as new members to the board of directors of the Support Center
Cotner has served as director of the Tulsa United Way since 1967
and is a past national board member of the National Association of
Schermerhorn is immediate past president of the Tulsa Junior
League and is serving as 1986 Tulsa International Mayfest chairman.
Troutman, recently retired exploration manager for Conoco, is past
president of the Oklahoma City Association of Petroleum Land Men.
Newly elected 1986 officers for the Support Center are: president
- Sam Cerny, president, Grace Petroleum; vice president - Carol
Wilkinson, director of public affairs for KOCO-TV; and
secretary-treasurer - Jon Trudgeon, partner, Speck, Philbin, Fleig,
Trudgeon and Lutz law firm.
The Support Center of Oklahoma is a non-profit training and
consulting organization. . .
- Martha Nagle, associate dean of students with Oklahoma City
University, has replaced Les Metheny as dean of students.
Metheny recently retired. Keith Hackett will fill the post
vacated by Nagle.
Nagle joined OCU in July 1984 as associate dean. She has a
bachelors degree from Radcliffe College plus masters and Ph.D.
degrees from the University of California. She formerly served as a
research psychologist three years at the Behavorial Sciences
Laboratory at the Oklahoma City Veterans Administration Hospital.
Hackett has a bachelors in physical education from Tarkio College
and a masters in education from the University of Kansas. He served
six years at Baker University on its varsity football coaching staff
and was previously a high school head football coach for one year in
Faucett, Mo. . .
- David Downing has accepted the new position of advertising
manager for Thrifty Rent-A-Car System Inc. of Tulsa.
Downing will be responsible for the company's national and local
advertising, marketing and public relations needs related to consumer
and travel agent efforts. He also will be the primary contact for
the company's advertising agency, Advertising Incorporated, where he
recently served as account executive on the Thrifty account.
Before joining Advertising Incorporated, Downing was account
executive with Hood Hope & Associates and Jordan Associates in
Oklahoma City. . .
- Melanie M. Hill has been promoted to senior vice president and
elected to the board of directors at Ackerman & McQueen Advertising
Hill will continue her duties as manager of the agency's Tulsa
office and maintain responsibility for day-to-day supervision of the
National Rifle Association, Sheraton Kensington Hotel and Rapid
Muffler accounts. . .
- Robert L. Birdwell, an account executive with Stifel, Nicolaus
& Co., Inc., has been appointed vice president and manager of sales.
Birdwell joined the downtown Oklahoma City office of Stifel
Nicolaus in 1975.
