William Coleman to Chair Dean A. Mcgee Award Council

William O. Coleman has been appointed by Michael W. Clayton, president of Downtown Now, to chair the Dean A. McGee Award Council.

The council and a second committee has been appointed to administer the annual Dean A. McGee Award which will be presented to the person who most enhances Downtown Oklahoma City's reputation as a "People Place."

Coleman, a past president of Downtown Now and currently advisory director, is senior vice president-regional management, Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co.

The council is initially organized in two committees. The Selection Committee is chaired by B.C. Clark Jr., chairman of the board of B.C. Clark Jewelers. Members are Dean A. McGee, Edelgard E. Hattfield, Dr. William G. Thurman and Stanton L. Young. The Dinner Committee chairperson and members will be announced later.

The award consists of an original sculpture entitled "A New Beginning," sculpted by Frederick Olds, and a cash stipend.

- Phillip A. Thompson has joined bolen Oldsmobile, 1222 N. Robinson Ave., as general sales manager.

He will have administrative responsibility for sales of both new and used cars. Thompson had been in the automobile business in Oklahoma City for 10 years. . .

- Mary L. Jordon has been hired by Joy Reed Belt & Associates Inc. to coordinate activities of the company's Outplacement Center.

In addition, Petty A. Via has been promoted to vice president of Career Resources.

Jordon is a licensed counselor with seven years of experience in private industry and five years as a consultant.

Via will be managing the new Career Resources offices which provide resume preparation, vocational testing and strategic assistance to individuals with work-related problems.

- Lawrence J. Roy, M.D., has joined Central Oklahoma Anesthesiologists.

Roy, who attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma Medical School, has begun his practice in anesthesiology at Presbyterian Hospital. . .

- Dr. Patrick Fitzgerald has been named acting dean of Oklahoma City University's School of Management and Business Sciences.

Fitzgerald was associate dean and associate professor of economics and finance at OCU. . .

- Ross Herndon has been promoted to director of member services for AAA Oklahoma.

In addition, Dana Steele has been named director of business operations, with Robert Grier promoted to manager of membership sales and Lee Bryant joining the company as manager of public affairs. . .
