State Rigcount Dips to 136; U.S. Count Declines by 30

HOUSTON - The active rig count in Oklahoma fell for the second consecutive week falling 5.5 percent to 136 for the week ended Jan. 16 from 144 the previous week, according to the International Association of Drilling Contractors in Houston.

In the last two weeks, the state rig count has decreased 9.3 percent from 150. The active rig count for the state is down 43.8 percent from 242 the same week in 1986 and down 53.7 percent from 294 for the same week in 1985.

The 136 active rigs in the state for the week is the lowest since there were 135 active rigs for the week of Nov. 21.

The nationwide active drilling rig count fell for the third consecutive week.

There were 886 active right in the nation for the week, down 3.2 percent from 916 the previous week. The U.S. rig count has fallen 10.3 percent from 988 during the last three weeks and is at its lowest level since it was 874 for the week ended Nov. …
