Osage Expressway to Stimulate Growth TULSA - The Osage Expressway is expected to stimulate development and economic growth in north Tulsa, an area of the city where businesses have been stifled by inadequate roads, officials say.

The $13 million roadway, the largest undertaken by Tulsa and the first state expressway built with city funds, opened to traffic on Tuesday.

Construction on the expressway that is hoped will be expanded in the future to link Tulsa with Skiatook Lake began in 1986 and was completed on schedule, officials said.

The scenic expressway curves north from the Inner Dispersal Loop through the wooded Osage Hills to its present end at the top of a hill at the intersection of Apache Street. Extension to its planned connection to the Gilcrease Expressway depends on voter approval of a one-cent sales tax on the ballot Oct. 6.
