Data Network Opens City Office AUSTIN - An Oklahoma City office has been opened by Southwest Network Services of Austin, operator of a high-speed, switched data communications network in Texas.

The Oklahoma City office will be at Bank of Oklahoma Plaza, 201 Robert S. Kerr Ave.

In addition, the firm has established offices in Tulsa and New Orleans.

Southwest Network Services began operations in October as a "one-stop solution" for large and small data transmission needs. It offers taylored coverage services, including shared or fractional "T1" data circuits. A T1 circuit is a large digital telephone line capable of transmitting voice, data and video services.

Reception Set for New OU President A public reception for the University of Oklahoma's 12th president, Richard Van Horn and his wife, Betty, at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Ming Gallery of Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave., Norman.

Van Horn will conduct his first news conference since being named OU president at 2 p.m. in Dining Rooms 1 and 2 of the OU Student Union.

He will assume the OU presidency July 15. He has been president of the University of Houston for the past six years.

PacifiCare Donates Film for Economic Development PacifiCare Health Systems has donated a new film to be used for economic development by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.

PacifiCare provided nearly $50,000 in underwriting the film, working cooperatively with chamber officials in its development.

The film will feature actor James Whitmore as narrator, best known for his portrayals of Will Rogers and Harry Truman. Interviews with prominent business leaders telling why they chose Oklahoma City as an operations site also will be part of the film.

The film will make its premier at the chamber's 100th birthday party May 23 at Frontier City. …
