Ownership Changed Shawnes Favorite, nominated to the $75,000 Remington Park Championship July 3, is now owned and raced by the U.S. Marshall Service.

Earlier this year, the gelding's owner Mario Salinas of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and charged for alledgedly trafficking illegal drugs.

All of Salinas' assets were seized by the U.S. Government including Shawnes Favorite and several other Quarter Horses.

While Salinas is awaiting trail, the U.S. Marshall Service is the owner-on-record of Shawnes Favorite. Trained by Mike Robbins, Shawnes Favorite has won more than $246,000 and was named the 1988 world champion 3-year-old Quarter Horse and champion gelding. . .

That's Horse Racing! Golden Rustler, disqualified for interference after finishing first in Saturday's Del City Handicap, is also nominated to the Remington Park Championship.

The Del City would have been Golden Rustler's third straight win over Equitrack had he not veered back and forth throughout the race. The disqualification also may have cost Golden Rustler a slot in the championship. The winners' purse for the Del City would have placed Golden Rustler among the championship's starters. Because more than 14 horses have been nominated to the $75,000 race, starters are chosen by lifetime earnings.

Tracks Woo Shoemaker Representatives from tracks in 16 countries are competing for the chance to host Willie Shoemaker's final race. The world's winningest jockey said he is retiring this year.
