Muskogee to Become New Headquarters for Custom Seating

A Tulsa company producing decor and accessory items for restaurants and national retail chains announced plans Wednesday to build a new plant and move its corporate headquarters to Muskogee.

Custom Seating Inc. President Charles H. Gresham said the company decided it needed a larger manufacturing facility because of its recent growth. He said the Muskogee location was chosen from sites surveyed in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.

The company will build a 100,000-square-foot plant.

Custom Seating has 90 employees, but Gresham said the company may add another 50 people to the payroll in the next year as the business continues to grow. Sales are expected to increase 30 to 50 percent in 1990, he said.

"We started very small, in 1982, with three employees," Gresham said. "We have been fortunate to close some big accounts."

Kentucky Fried Chicken is among Custom Seating's biggest customers, he said.
