Wright Wins Award for Excellence in Economic Education

Betty Wright, Oklahoma City's teacher of the year in 1989, has been awarded first place for her excellence in entrepreneurship and economic education by the National Federation of Independent Business Foundation.

Wright, a teacher at Southern Hills Elementary School, will receive the award Aug. 24 at the Foundation Leadership Conference in Colorado Springs. . .

- Dari Turner of William E. Davis & Sons Inc. has been promoted to vice president of business development. Turner's responsibilities now include marketing of new computer software and support programs to the customer base. . .

- Seven innovative Oklahoma women will be honored at the Oklahoma Women in Education Administration awards program this June 28 and 29 at the Hilton Inn West in Oklahoma City. Betty "Gina" Haury, state coordinator of career development services for the State Department of Vocational and Technical Education, will receive the Cecil Yarbrough Award. Dr. Edna Manning, founding president of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in Oklahoma City, will be honored with the Outstanding Oklahoma Woman Administrator Award. Dr. Lucy Smith, superintendent of McAlester Public Schools, will receive the Outstanding Member Award.

Awards of merit will be given to Sen. Bernice Shedrick, D-Stillwater; Sen. Vicki Miles-LaGrange, D-Oklahoma City; Rep. Carolyn Thompson, D-Norman, and Sen. Penny Williams, D-Tulsa. These legislators were chosen to be honored because of their instrumental roles in the inception, formation and passage of House Bill 1017. . .

- Multimedia Cablevision has named three new directors: Kevin Dekker, director of operations; Glenn Fuller, director of engineering; and Nancy Hickman, director of marketing. . .

- The Rotary Club of North Oklahoma City has appointed new officers and directors including Patrick W.
