Steve Kreidler Resigns Norman Chamber Post

Steve Kreidler, executive director of the Norman Chamber of Commerce since 1988, has announced his resignation to accept a position with a group of Norman-based companies operated by Judy Hatfield.

Effective Aug. 1, Kreidler will move to the newly-created position of vice president for management services with Equity Realty Inc., J.J. Hatfield Inc. and Hatfield & Bell Inc.

Laurie Wynn, associate director of the Norman chamber, has been named interim director.

The Norman Chamber of Commerce was named Oklahoma's Chamber of the Year in 1989.

Vaughn Clark, immediate past president of the Norman chamber and chairman of a committee formed Monday to search for a new director, said Kreidler laid the groundwork for an economic development program which will continue.

"We appreciate the work that Steve Kreidler has done to improve the image of the Norman Chamber of Commerce and its credibility in the field of economic development," Clark said. "He has set the stage for us. He will be missed, but he will continue as an energetic leader in Norman."

Clark said the search for Kreidler's replacement will begin locally and expand to state, regional and national levels if necessary.

Kreidler, 32, joined the chamber in 1988 after three years as director of development and finance for the Oklahoma Arts Institute. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in 1981. …
