Ou Plans Conference on Environmental Law
The conference will be presented by the Center for Business and Management, a unit of OU's Division of Continuing Education and Public Service, in cooperation with the OU College of Business Administration.
The two-day conference will focus on the increasingly complex environmental, health and safety laws regulating the oil and gas industry. The conference is designed to assist attorneys, landmen, engineers, geologists, drilling contractors and other petroleum professionals to develop a better understanding of the nation's environmental laws and regulations.
Among the topics to be presented are regulation and disposal of wastes, hazardous waste spill liability, regulation and disposal of used oil and common law theories of liability for aquifer pollution and the measure of damages.
Keynote speaker for the event will be U.S. Rep. Mike Synar, D-Oklahoma, who will provide an update on environmental legislation affecting the oil and gas industry. Synar will speak Oct. 22, following a reception and dinner, which is offered at no additional cost to conference participants. Others wishing to attend the 5 p.m. reception and dinner can make reservations, at $15 per person.
Cost of the conference will be $350, which covers the course fee, materials, coffee breaks, two lunches and the reception and dinner.
