Youngs Assumes Role as Museum's Intermim Director

Article excerpt

Youngs Assumes Role as Museum's Interim Director Christopher Youngs, chief curator of the Oklahoma City Art Museum, has been chosen as the museum's interim director, it was announced Tuesday. Youngs' appointment follows the resignation, announced last week and effective Tuesday, of Director Joseph Jacobs.

Danny Kennedy, president of the museum's board of directors, said Youngs will assume his new responsibilities as interim director immediately while continuing in his post as chief curator.

Youngs began his tenure as chief curator at the Oklahoma City Art Museum in September 1990. The court, without comment, let stand a ruling that travel agent Gayle Schreier and her father, Irwin Schreier, illegally victimized American Airlines' Frequent Flyer AAdvantage program.

Their appeal had argued that the frequent flyer coupons they collected by substituting a fictitious name for those of real American Airline passengers were not the airline's property but that of its passengers. The appeal noted that no passenger had complained about Schreier's activities. Schreier, through her job, had access to American's computer reservation system, which stores passengers' names and flight information.

On a number of occasions, she replaced the name of actual passengers with that of G. Johnson, a fictitious person whom she had enrolled as a member of the AAdvantage program.

The mileage credits accumulated by ``G. Johnson'' in the frequent flyer coupons could be used to acquire, without any cash payment, tickets for American Airlines flights.

Irwin Schreier's participation, according to lower courts, apparently was based on his knowledge of his daughter's actions and his having set up a number of mail drops where the frequent flyer coupons could be collected.
