Johnson Recommends Actuarial Reports Oklahoma House of Representatives Speaker Glen Johnson will propose a change designed to make sure amendments to state retirement bills in the future are actuarially sound, he said Wednesday.

There has been concern recently that some of the state's retirement plans are in trouble. Johnson said he would recommend today to the House Rules Committee that an actuarial report be included before the House takes a final vote on retirement bills. Today is the deadline for reporting bills out of committee in the house of origin. Bills not reported out by then and not killed will be carried over until next session.

Claxton Named to Corporation Commission Post Larry J. Claxton has been named manager of statistics for the Oil and Gas Conservation Division of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

Claxton, who is originally from Lebanon, Mo., has been a personnel statistician for the Oklahoma Office of Personnel Management the past two years. In his new job, Claxton will supervise a department that compiles and maintains records on Oklahoma oil and gas drilling and production, drilling permits, well completions and pluggings, among other things.

Brown to Fill Board Term Mike Brown of Edmond was picked Wednesday to fill an unexpired term on the Board of Regents for Oklahoma Colleges, Gov. David Walters announced. Brown assumes the post declared vacant by former Gov. Henry Bellmon when Linda Grantham moved to Lawton.

Bellmon had named J.D. Helms to the post, but the Oklahoma Senate did not act on Helms' confirmation. Senate Majority Leader Darryl Roberts had asked Walters to fil the post as soon as possible. …
