Datatimes is adding more than 150 daily newspapers, trade publications and government research sources from U.S. metropolitan areas, Japan, the U.S. financial industry and the entertainment world, the Oklahoma City-based company announced Tuesday.

The new sources available will push the total number of publications, financial databases and other information sources available for online searching and retrieval through Datatimes to more than 800 from four continents. The information sources include 100 daily newspapers, including The Journal Record and The Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City.

Datatimes is a subsidiary of the Oklahoma Publishing Co., with a minority share owned by Dow Jones & Co.

``We are working to make our online network both the most comprehensive in the information industry,'' said Allen Paschal, Datatimes president, ``and a true global resource for business everywhere.''

Datatimes said it has increased the number of daily newspapers available for online searching. The Boston Globe, The Des Moines Register, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Kansas City Star and the Las Vegas Review-Journal have been added to the Datatimes portfolio. The Detroit News is scheduled to be added in April.

An expanded number of Japanese information sources soon will be added, the result of a comprehensive agreement between Datatimes and the Tokyo-based information service Comline International, the company said.

Comline provides a daily package of selected articles, some full-text and others in summary form, from more than 130 Japanese-language daily newspapers, news services, government organizations and trade publications, all translated into English. …
