U.S. Chamber Honors Mickey Edwards WASHINGTON _ The U.S. Cham- ber of Commerce has honored Rep. Mickey Edwards, R-Okla., for his votes against legis- lation on parental leave, child care and hiring and& promotion quotas. "I will continue to fight those in Congress who propose legislation& designed to zap American business of its strength and short circuit its vitality," Edwards said this week in a news release from his Washington office announcing his receiving the chamber's Spirit of Enterprise award. C.J. Silas, chairman of the national organization and chair- man of Bartlesville-based Phillips Pet- roleum Co., will present the award to Edwards. Telephone Book Collection Campaign Slated "Project Re-Directory" will kick off the second annual collection of tele- phone books for recycling at noon June 19 in Kerr Park. Patty Eaton, Oklahoma secretary of the environment, will be the keynote speaker. Businesses with 50 or more telephone books can deliver the old directories to a warehouse at 801 S. Agnew Ave. The warehouse will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 24 to July 31, except during July 4 and 5. Deposit points for household tele- phone directories will be listed in inserts in the new telephone books. The recycling project is a joint effort of Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, Oklahoma City Beautiful, Waste Man- agement Inc., Neighborhood Alliance and other organizations, according to Oklahoma City Beautiful.
