Bank of Oklahoma Creates Community Spirit Grant Bank of Oklahoma NA has estab- lished a $50,000 grant program to improve the quality of life of people in low and moderate-income neighbor- hoods. The Community Spirit Grant Program will provide grants of up to $2,500 each for social service agencies to provide assistance and information for their constituencies. The application deadline for the awards is June 28, with grants awarded beginning July 1. After the initial awards this summer, the grants are expected to be given annually in January. "This program is to create a partner- ship between Bank of Oklahoma and the agencies which serve our communities," said Linda Umfleet, director of com- munity reinvestment. "Our goal is to reach the individuals these agencies serve, many of whom may not realize loans and other bank services are accessible." Gipson Named Interim Provost at OU Richard C. Gipson, a longtime Uni- versity of Oklahoma faculty member with extensive administrative experi- ence, has been named interim provost for the Norman campus. His appoint- ment was approved by the OU Board of Regents at its June meeting. Gipson has served as executive assistant to the president since 1989. He also served a year in the Norman campus provost's office as a faculty administra- tive fellow, a position that involved program review, general education, space and facilities planning, minority recruitment and retention and& implementation of the "Strategy for Excellence," the long-range planning document for OU's Norman campus. Gipson, a professor of music, has been a member of the OU faculty since 1976. Express Services Adds Second Kentucky Office Express Services Temporary & Per- manent Personnel announced the addi- tion of the second office in Kentucky. Located in Louisville at 104 Executive Park, the new franchise office was recently granted to Teresa Wright, who will operate and manage it. Home-based Business Seminar Slated "Planning for Home-based Business Success," a seminar designed to provide business advice to home-based busines- ses, is scheduled July 18 by the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. …
