Walker Appointed to Board of Toxic Substances Agency

Dr. Bailus Walker, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Board of Scientific Counselors of the United States Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

The agency was established in 1980 to prevent or lessen harmful health effects that result from exposure to hazardous substances in the environment. It conducts and sponsors research, performs public health assessments and maintains a registry of persons exposed to hazardous substances in the environment. . .

Mark E. Acker has joined Norman Physicians Group Inc. as director of rehabilitation. He owned and practiced at Associates in Physical Therapy Inc. Acker is a member of Rotary International and the American Physical Therapy Association where he holds memberships in the association's private practice, sports medicine and orthopaedic sections. . .

Dr. Hayden H. Donahue will be honored at an Appreciation-Reception Dinner Friday evening at the University of Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp in Norman. Donahue, a nationally and internationally known psychiatrist, has retired after 39 years of dedication to the mental health system in Oklahoma. He has served as treasurer of the American Psychiatric Association, has been a life fellow since 1980, has served on committees in Washington, D.C., and has been president of the Oklahoma branch of the American Psychiatric Association. . .

Dr. Deborah Jennings has joined Psychiatric Associates as a staff psychiatrist with primary interests in the study and treatment of personality and mood disorders and chemical dependency.

She was assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma's Health Sciences Center Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and was a psychiatric consultant at Presbyterian Hospital's Chemical Dependency Unit.

She is on staff at Willow View Mental Health System, is a member of the American Medical Association, Oklahoma County Medical Society, American Psychiatric Association and the Oklahoma Psychiatric Association. She plans to continue

teaching on a volunteer basis. …
