Oil Prices Retreat Modestly; Natural Gas Futures Mixed

From Staff, Wire Reports Oil prices made a modest retreat Thursday in lifeless trading that broke a four-day rally.

Light sweet crude oil for August delivery settled at $21.29 a barrel, down 14 cents, at the New York Mercantile Exchange.

On the spot cash market, buyers of crude in Oklahoma lowered posted prices by 25 cents a barrel, bringing Oklahoma Sweet and West Texas Intermediate to $20 a barrel. Oklahoma Sour was posted at $18.40 a barrel by Citgo Petroleum Corp. and $17.90 a barrel by Kerr-McGee Refining Corp.

Kerr-McGee posted Central Oklahoma Sweet at $20.25 a barrel. Phillips 66 Co. also announced the price change.

Natural gas futures prices were mixed, with contracts for August delivery settling at $1.157 per thousand cubic feet, down 0.3 cents.

In London, North Sea Brent Blend crude oil for August delivery settled at $19.25 a barrel, down 18 cents, at the International Petroleum Exchange.

In futures, unleaded gasoline for August delivery settled at 64. …
