Fred Jones Manufacturing Donates Engines, Parts to Vo-Tech

Fred Jones Manufacturing Co. of Oklahoma City on Thursday donated engines and component parts valued at $30,000 to the Francis Tuttle Vo-Tech Center, 12777 N. Rockwell Ave. Francis Tuttle Center is building a $2.5 million facility that will be used for automobile body, transmission repair and servicing classes, said Greg Huffman, automotive service instructor.

Swanson Group Opens in Norman The Swanson Group: Image-Management-Media has opened at 2115 Melrose Dr. in Norman. It is owned by Doug and Terri Swanson.

Services offered include market research, business image analysis, publicity, internal systems analysis and computer software installation, maintenance and support.

Metro Oklahoma City Prayer Breakfast Scheduled The ninth annual Metro Oklahoma City Prayer Breakfast is scheduled at 6:45 a.m. April 15 in the Great Hall of the Myriad Convention Center, according to Mayor Ron Norick. James Laurick, vice president of PaineWebber, is chairman of the event and Frank A. McPherson, chairman and chief executive officer of Kerr-McGee Corp., is chairman of the breakfast executive committee, according to C. Herman Reece, metro director of the Christian Business Men's Committee, sponsor of the event along with Norick.

Reservations for the breakfast can be made by sending a check and self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Christian Business Men's Committee, 5701 N. Portland Ave., Suite 121, Oklahoma City, 73122. The Christian Businessmen's Committee has more than 500 committees in the nation with eight in the Oklahoma City area.

Businesses Provide Funds for School Program Southwestern Bell, Boatmen's Bancshares and the Kirkpatrick Foundation have provided funds to a local area alternative high school to help reduce high school student absentee rates. Grant funds are being given to Skills and Academic Grant Education, a cooperative effort since 1981 of Metro Tech Vocational Technical Centers and Oklahoma City Public Schools. The funds will be used to underwrite the expense of a full time liaison counselor who is already working with students, families and area agencies to remove the barriers that prevent attendance at the school.

Environmental Conference Slated A conference on environmental issues is scheduled Tuesday in room 412C at the State Capitol. The conference is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior Leagues of Lawton, Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Capitol Rotunda. Mark Coleman, deputy commissioner of environmental health services at the Oklahoma Department of Health, and Sen. Penny Williams, D-Tulsa, are scheduled to address the conference at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. State Senate President Pro Tempore Robert V. Cullison, D-Skiatook, is scheduled to speak at 11:30 a.m. and Speaker of the House Glen Johnson, D-Okemah, is scheduled to speak at noon. …
