The Oklahoma Center for NeuroScience, a research center and
information resource for health-care professionals and the general
public, has been established at the University of Oklahoma Health
Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.
The center will house both basic and clinical scientists.
Approximately 90 neuroscientists from the OU Health Sciences
Center, its sister campuses in Tulsa and Norman, and Oklahoma State
University in Stillwater now are cataloging their chief research
interests and expertise, which will be incorporated into the
Educational programs are planned for training new
neuroscientists and for further professional development of
established research scientists and physicians, and for informing
physicians and the public across Oklahoma about current and
prospective developments in understanding the nervous system and
its disorders, treatment and prevention. . .
Gary Torrence has been appointed chief financial officer for
Mercy Health Center. He is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants. . .
Dr. Edward Glinski, an ophthalmologist at Hillcrest Health
Center, has acquired the practice of Dr. Tom Lamar Johnson, who has
retired. Glinski welcomes all of Johnson's patients and will keep
their records in his office.
Glinski's full-service practice includes performing routine eye
examinations, treating medical diseases and performing eye surgery
at his Heritage Eye Surgicenter and at the outpatient surgery
department at Hillcrest Health Center. . .
Rebecca Bloomgarden has joined Psychiatric Associates s
Midwest City office as a clinical social worker.
Bloomgarden is a board certified diplomate in clinical social
work, a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed marriage and
family therapist. She is a member of the National Association of
Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the
Oklahoma Health and Welfare Association.
Psychiatric Associates' staff consists of five psychiatrists,
two psychologists and two licensed clinical social workers. The
practice specializes in geriatric, adult and adolescent psychiatry.
Family and marriage counseling and psychological testing are also

Dr. Steven R. Peskin has been named vice president of medical
affairs at PacifiCare's Tulsa headquarters.
He will be responsible for supervising both Tulsa and Oklahoma
City medical affair's staff and interacting with the medical groups
contracted with PacifiCare. He will also have accountability for
managing the cost efficiency utilization process and quality of the
care delivered to PacifiCare members. …
