By Bill May Journal Record Staff Reporter A Ponca City-based dairy, ice cream and bakery products cooperative has acquired Cook Dairy Products Co. of Oklahoma City, it was announced Tuesday.

No price was revealed for the 18-month lease-purchase agreement, which was completed April 1. "We feel this is a good company, that we can put more volume into it and make (it) into a more profitable operation," said Doyle Keirn, president and executive director of the acquiring Farm Fresh Inc. "That will mean at least $6 million in volume to begin with. Then, as our sales increase and as our private-label business continues to grow, we will add employment to match sales volume." Production will continue along the same lines, with the company servicing wholesale and private-label contracts as well as the Farm Fresh novelty line from the Oklahoma City operation.

"They have some good ideas, ideas for some new products that they want to introduce to the market, and they have a good distribution system," said Charles Cook, former owner of the Oklahoma City plant. …
