Graphics Arts Council Elects Officers, Board

The Graphic Arts Education Council has announced its 1992 board members and officers. Board members elected include:

Larry Cox, president, PennWell Printing Co.; Dave Delana, president, Heritage Press; Larry Fisk, president, Journal Record Press; Phil Hooper, vice president, PennWell Printing Co.; Dr. Bob Klabenes, provost, Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee; Jim Miller, publisher, The Norman Transcript; Jim Oledbeken, president, Printing Industries Association of Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri; Dr. Roy Peters, director, Oklahoma Department of Vocational- Technical Education; and Dennis Reid, president, Vox Printing Inc.

Officers of the board of directors include: Larry Fisk, chairman; Dr.

Roy Peters, vice chairman; Larry Cox, secretary; and Dennis Reid, treasurer.

Eleven members were elected to a newly created advisory board. Those elected include: Jim Bellati, publisher, Stillwater Publishing Co.; John Bennitt, president, Fine Arts Engraving Co. Inc.; Mike Bible, sales manager, Carpenter Paper Co; Gary Borchert, department head, OSU-Okmulgee, visual communications; Dr. Gene Callahan, superintendent, Norick Brothers Inc.; Ed Kelley, managing editor, Oklahoma Publishing Co.; Bob Miller, president, Printers Bindery; Lindell Smith, director of manufacturing, Oklahoma Graphics; Noel Sinn, general manager, Oberlin Press; Phil Waul, assistant superintendent, Central Oklahoma VoTech; and Dick Wilbins, president, Alco Laminations Inc.

The 1992 Award of Excellence was presented to Dr. Bob Klabenes in recognition of his efforts to improve graphic arts vocational education within the state.

The council was created in 1991 when printing industry leaders recognized the need to establish closer ties with the vocational-technical education community in order to meet the increasing skill requirements of new employees in the industry. . .

Greg Love has been promoted to vice president of real estate and development, and Bill Spence has been promoted to vice president of operations and human resources of Love's Country Store Inc. of Oklahoma City.

Also, Terry Ross has been named vice president of motor fuels, and Paula Downing has been named vice president of finance and chief financial officer. . .
